THE A. PIROIR STUDIO-GALLERY IS SPECIALIZED IN THE CREATION AND EXHIBITION OF FINE ART PRINTMAKING
Unique venue
We are pleased to present the Atelier-Galerie A. Piroir. Since 1975, we have been an intaglio printer, publisher of prints and artist’s books, and print media gallery owners. Two generations of printers work together at the studio. Alain Piroirʳᶜᵃ has passed on the love for the trade to his daughter Agatheʳᶜᵃ, who, after having worked on her own, joined her father in 2006. We are proud to provide Montrealers with a venue to enjoy print media. The gallery is giving the public an exceptional opportunity to explore contemporary printmaking in its creative context. The exhibitions are presented alongside presses in the studio, where the public will be able to watch the printers and artists at work. Art lovers will be able to see the creation of a print from start to finish.
As printers, our goal is to work collaboratively with artists who challenge our skills. Our practice involves advising, assisting and helping them produce their works, which requires an in-depth dialogue with them and an ability to creatively address the technical challenges of their art. We also endeavour to disseminate the creations of our artists. Our gallery’s mission is to exhibit print media by artists who have a contemporary approach. Our commitment has culminated in a partnership with the Biennale internationale d’estampe contemporaine de Trois-Rivières, where the Prix Atelier-Galerie A. Piroir is awarded. Drawing on more than 48 years’ experience, our unique approach has earned us a reputation as print media experts.

Upcoming Exhibition
Saint-Denys-Garneau International Prize
From Tuesday, November 11 to Saturday, November 29, 2025
The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 29 at 2:30 p.m.
The Saint-Denys-Garneau International Prize is pleased to announce the finalists for its 2025 edition.
This prize aims to encourage the creation of unique artist’s books where poetry and visual art meet in a fruitful dialogue.
This year’s three finalists are:
Dominique Kermène
A printmaker and bookbinder based in France, Dominique Kermène explores the relationship between text, material, and light. Her artist’s books, often created in collaboration with contemporary poets, draw on the richness of printmaking techniques and handmade papers. Her work emphasizes the gesture of the line and the dialogue between the vegetal and the human, inviting a sensory and poetic reading of nature.
Sophie Villoutreix Brajeux
A French visual artist and printmaker, Sophie Villoutreix Brajeux is interested in the power of gesture and the musicality of visual language. In her artist’s books, color and form unfold like rhythms echoing the texts she selects or writes. Her work addresses the human figure and inner movement with great sensitivity, blending abstraction and symbolic expression.
Véronique de Guitarre
A French printmaker and artist, Véronique de Guitarre develops a body of work marked by the intensity of black and the contrast of textures. Her artist’s books reveal an introspective universe where matter becomes both memory and metaphor. Through her etchings, she explores the themes of passage, silence, and transformation within an aesthetic that is both restrained and deeply evocative.
We invite you to discover these remarkable works that highlight the richness and diversity of contemporary artist’s book creation.
