Ed Pien
Ed Pien was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1958. He immigrated with his family to Canada at the age of eleven. In 1984 he obtained a master's degree in visual arts from York University in Toronto. The subject of numerous exhibitions, his works have notably been presented at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Drawing Center in New York, and the Centro Nacional de las Artes in Mexico.
Inspired by an amalgamation of influences from the East and the West, Ed Pien's work is anchored in the practice of drawing. His creations often take the form of large-format, complex installations through which the viewer wanders. The artist's works are included in important international collections, including those of the National Gallery of Canada, the Museo de arte y deseno contemporaneo in Costa Rica, and the Fundacion Antoni Tapies, in Spain. Ed Pien lives and works in Toronto.
