LUCIE ALBERTINI-GUILLEVIC

GIORGIO BAFFO
Giorgio Baffo (1694–1768) was an 18th-century Venetian poet, born and deceased in Venice. Alongside Carlo Goldoni, he is regarded as one of the leading writers in the Venetian language. Renowned for his satirical and licentious sonnets, Baffo combined humor, irony, and a popular voice to capture the spirit of everyday life in Venice. His works often celebrated sensuality while challenging social conventions, earning him both notoriety and admiration. Though considered scandalous in his time, today he is recognized as a significant figure in Italian dialect literature. JULIUS BALTAZAr
Born in Paris in 1949, Julius Baltazar is a French artist whose talent was recognized early by Salvador Dalí, who took the young artist under his wing and encouraged him to pursue an artistic path.
Baltazar’s work blends printmaking, ink drawing, and Arlequin pencil, creating a hybrid space between engraving and painting. Deeply influenced by literature, he has maintained a close relationship with poetry, having illustrated over three hundred books of verse throughout his career.

Vincent Bardet
Born in 1947 in Clermont-Ferrand, Vincent Bardet grew up in the Paris region. He graduated in philosophy from the Institut d’Études Politiques and the University of Nanterre, before embarking on a career as a translator, essayist, and occasional poet. From 1980 to 2008, he worked at Éditions du Seuil, contributing to the dissemination of important literary and philosophical works. A practitioner of Zen Buddhism, Bardet has also played a role in introducing this spiritual tradition to a French audience through translations and introductory texts. GUY CLOUTIER
Born in Québec City in 1949, Guy Cloutier is a writer, literary critic, and professor. He earned a PhD in French literature from Université Laval in 1986 and taught literature and creative writing at Cégep Lévis-Lauzon, Cégep Limoilou, and Université Laval. A literary critic for Radio-Canada, Le Soleil, and Magazine littéraire (Paris), he has published widely and served on juries for the CALQ and the Canada Council for the Arts. Co-founder of Éditions de l’Estérel (1977–1981), he also initiated Les Lundis du Temporel, a turning point in Québec’s literary recitals. Since 1996, he has been Artistic Director of Poètes de l’Amérique française. Actively involved in the literary community, he served with the Québec Writers’ Union and was named Chevalier of the Ordre des Palmes académiques (1990) and of the Ordre des arts et des lettres (2001).

Hervé de Fontenay
Born in 1948 and passing away in 2014, Hervé de Fontenay completed his studies at the Université de Montréal and McGill University. In 1975, he joined McGill University, and two years later began working at the Centre for Continuing Education, where he pursued a long career. Philippe Delaveau
Born in 1950, Philippe Delaveau is a writer, translator, and art critic, but he is best known as a poet. Author of around ten poetry collections, his work is marked by lyrical intensity and spiritual depth. Delaveau’s poetry has earned him major literary honors, including the Guillaume-Apollinaire Prize, the Max Jacob Prize, the Rainer Maria Rilke Prize, and the Grand Prize for Poetry from the Académie française. Michel Déon

Jean Désy is a poet. He teaches at the University of Laval in literature and medicine. His passions were Nordic for much of his life. He still practices medicine as a convenience store on the North Shore and in Nunavik. His latest publications include an essay entitled “Being and not being,” about contemporary Inuit life, published by XYZ in March 2019; an essay entitled “Necessary irrationality,” published by XYZ in September 2020; a prose-poem entitled “Non je ne mourrai pas,” published by Mémoire d’encrier in January 2021; and finally an essay entitled “We are poetry,” published in January 2022 by XYZ and made from interviews with 31 poets and artists.

Lionel Ray
Lionel Ray (born Robert Lorho) is a French poet, born in 1935 in the Paris region. A lycée teacher, he won the Prix Guillaume-Apollinaire at a very young age and began to publish his poetry regularly in the early 1970s with the encouragement of Louis Aragon. Since then, he has published numerous books, including Le Corps Obscur (Prix Mallarmé), Comme un château défait (Prix Supervielle and Prix Goncourt de la Poésie) and Pages d'ombre : poèmes (Prix Guillevic, Grand prix de poésie de la Société des gens de lettres).

James Sacré
Born in the Vendée countryside in 1939, James Sacré worked as a teacher, visiting agricultural teacher and university literature professor, as a sideline of his vocation as a poet. From the 1970s to today, he has left a large collection of poetry on the themes of travel, memory and encounter.

Lucien Scheler
Born in 1902 and died in 1999, Lucien Scheler was a French poet, publisher and librarian. Similar to Paul Éluard, particularly during the era of the Resistance, he was devoted to publishing his complete works in La Pléiade. He wrote some poetry books, often illustrated by renowned artists, including Picasso and Raoul Ubac.

Marcel Schwob
Born in 1867 and died young in 1905, Marcel Schwob was a French writer who befriended Paul Valéry, Oscar Wilde and Colette. His work as a storyteller, bordering on prose poetry, influenced other well-known writers, such as André Gide, William Faulkner and Jorge Luis Borges. He is best known for Livre de Monelle and La Croisade des enfants.

Jude Stéfan, born Jacques Dufour, is a French poet, novelist and essayist, born in Pont-Audemer in 1930. He is credited with about 20 poetry books written from the 1960s to today. He won the Prix Max-Jacob and the Grand prix de poésie de la Ville de Paris.

André Velter
Born in 1945, André Velter is a French poet, essayist and radio host. A frequent traveller, Velter writes poems and essays that depict his trips to Asia, particularly Tibet. Interested in encounters and exchanges, he has worked with many visual artists. His poems have won various awards, including the Prix Mallarmé for L'Arbre-Seul and the Goncourt de la poésie for his entire work.

georges visat
Born in 1910 and died in 2001, Georges Visat was a French engraver, publisher and painter. On the eve of the Second World War, he founded his intaglio printing company in Paris, whose activities resumed upon his return from captivity. The engraving reproductions by George Bracques enabled him to invent a new technique, relief engraving, which was taken up by many artists, including his friend Max Ernst. In the 1960s, he became an art publisher and helped disseminate the work of many artists, such as Hans Bellmer, Alberto Giacometti and Roberto Matta. He devoted the last part of his life to painting.

Louise Warren
Born in 1956, Louise Warren is a Quebec poet and essayist. In poetry, she is credited with more than a dozen books, including Le Lièvre de mars, La Lumière, l’Arbre, le Trait and Le Plus Petit Espace. As an essayist, she explored the themes of creation, memory and mourning in La Forme et le Deuil, Archives du lac, and was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award.

joshua watsky
Joshua Watsky is an American teacher, translator, poet and artist’s book publisher. He teaches at Southern Connecticut State University. He has translated poems by Eugène Guillevic, Michel Butor and Philippe Delaveau. He has regularly collaborated with Julius Baltazar and René Laubiès on projects involving work by these authors as well as his own poems. As publisher at Wequetequock Cove Editions, he is also known for the publication of artist’s books dedicated to Arrabal and Marester.
